The winter strawberry season has officially begun, with orchards and markets across Taiwan entering peak harvest. The Ministry of Agriculture recently compiled visual materials to introduce several Taiwanese strawberry varieties, ranging from classic cultivars to newer specialty types, inviting consumers to enjoy the sweet-and-tangy flavors while learning more about varietal differences.
The Ministry noted that among Taiwanese strawberries, the most representative variety is Taoyuan No. 1, known as Fengxiang. Tainong No. 1 has a conical shape and a soft, chewy texture with natural milky notes, while Neihu No. 1 “Tianlai” releases a light apple aroma and offers a firmer texture, appealing to consumers seeking new tastes.
